ಇಂದು ನಾನು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಅದೇಕೋ ಬೇಗ ಎದ್ದಿದ್ದೆ.  ಛಳಿ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಇದೆ ಅಂತ ಅನ್ನಿಸ್ತು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ವೋಲ್ಟಾಸ್ AC ಬಂದ್ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.  ಟೈಟಾನ್ ಕೈ ಗಡಿಯಾರ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಯ ನೋಡಿದೆ.  ಇನ್ನೂ ಆರು ಹೊಡೆದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಒಂದು ಕಪ್ ಟೀ ಮಾಡಿ ಇವಳನ್ನ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸೋಣ ಎಂದು ಗಾಸ್ ಸ್ಟೋವ್ ಹಚ್ಚಿಸಿ ನೀರು ಕಾಯಲಿಕ್ಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟೆ. ಟಾಟಾ ಟೀ ಪೌಡರ್ ಹಾಕಿ ಘಮ ಘಮಾ ಎನ್ನುವ ಎರಡು ಲೋಟ ಟೀ ತಯಾರಿಸಿ  croma ಮಾಲ್ ನಿಂದ ತಂದ croma ಟಿವಿ ಸ್ವಿಚ್ ಹಾಕಿ ಟಾಟಾ  ಪ್ಲೇ ರಿಮೋಟ್ ನಿಂದ ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಸುಪ್ರಭಾತ ಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಹಾಗೇ ಇವಳನ್ನ ಎಬ್ಬಿಸಿದೆ. ನನ್ನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ನಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರ ಸಂಭಾಷಣೆ ಹೀಗಿತ್ತು.

"ಎಳ್ ತೀಯ.. ಟೀ ಮಾಡಿದೀನಿ"

"ಯಾಕ್ರೀ ಇವತ್ತು ಇಷ್ಟು ಬೇಗ ಎದ್ದಿದ್ದು?. ಸರ ಪ್ರಾಮಿಸ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ರಲ್ಲ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿದ್ದೆ ಬರಲಿಲ್ವ ?"

"ಯಾಕೋ ಎಚ್ಚರ ಬೇಗ ಆಯ್ತು.  ಯೋಚಿಸಬೇಡ ಸಂಜೆ  Tanishq ಗೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ"

"ಹೇಗೆ ಹೋಗೋದು ಡ್ರೈವರ್ ಬೇರೆ ಅವನ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲ ?"

"ನ್ಯಾನೋ ನ ನಾನೇ ಡ್ರೈವ್ ಮಾಡ್ತೀನಿ.  ಎಷ್ಟು ಮಹಾ ದೂರ ?"

"ರೀ"

'"ಏನು?"

"ಈ ಸಲ ಮುಂಬಯಿಗೆ ಹೋದಾಗ ತಾಜ್ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರೋಣವಾ"

ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲೇ  ನಾನೇನು ಟಾಟಾ ನಾ? ಅಂದ್ಕೊಂಡೆ.  ಆದರೂ ಇವಳಗೇಕೆ ಬೇಜಾರು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು..

"ಮಗಳು ಹೇಗೂ  TCS ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಾಳಲ್ಲ, ಅವಳಿಗೆ ರೂಮ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಸ್ತಾರದಲ್ಲಿ air ಟಿಕೆಟ್ ಬುಕ್ ಮಾಡಲು request ಮಾಡ್ಕೋ.  ಟೀ ತಣ್ಣ ಗಾಗುತ್ತೆ ಬೇಗ ಕುಡಿ. ".

Today, I woke up early for some reason. I felt that the chill was too much. I immediately turned off the Voltas AC. I checked the time on my Titan wristwatch. It wasn't even six yet. I decided to make a cup of tea and wake her up, so I lit the gas stove and put water to boil. I added Tata Tea Powder, made two fragrant cups of tea, switched on the Croma TV that we got from the Croma mall, and put on the morning Suprabhata using the Tata Play remote. Then, I woke her up. The conversation that started between the two of us went like this:

Me: "Get up... I've made tea." 

She: "Oh, why did you get up so early today? Is it for tomorrow's buying a necklace, is that why you couldn't sleep?" 

Me: "I just woke up early for some reason. Don't worry, we'll go to Tanishq in the evening." 

She: "How will we go? The driver has gone to his village, hasn't he?" 

Me: "I'll drive the Nano myself. It is not far anyway?"

She: "Honey (Ree)..." 

Me: "What?" 

She: "This time when we go to Mumbai, shall we stay at the Taj Hotel?" 

I thought to myself, Am I Tata? Still, not wanting to disappoint her... 

Me: "Our daughter is working at TCS anyway, so ask her to book the room and the air tickets on Vistara. The tea is getting cold, drink it quickly."
