SURPRISE VISIT BY HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATES

Ramachandra, Rameshrao, Ganeshprasad and me
Panchavati Hotel, Mysore January 20, 2025

Today afternoon (Jan 20, 2025), I received an unexpected call from my high school classmate, Ganeshprasad, who lives nearby in Mysore. He mentioned that he was bringing two friends and challenged me to see if I could recognise them. I eagerly invited them over, and within minutes, a car pulled up outside my home. Ganesh emerged, suggesting we head to his place, but I insisted they join me inside instead.

As they stepped out of the car, I was delighted to see Rameshrao, who had made a successful life for himself in California as far back as 1982. I had no trouble recognising Rameshrao, thanks to our earlier connection on Facebook. Back in 2010, I had been searching for old classmates to reconnect with, and Rameshrao's profile had popped up. We've been in touch sporadically via email ever since.  Seeing Rameshrao in person was truly wonderful, especially considering it had been nearly five decades since our last meeting in 1974. The other guest, Ramachandra, took a moment to remember - I recalled how he had initially pursued science in his pre-university studies, but then unexpectedly shifted to commerce. He ultimately pursued a career as a banker with the State Bank of Mysore. It had been a remarkable 48 years since I last saw Ramachandra, with our paths parting ways back in 1977.

The sudden reunion transported me back to 1969, when I was a student in the 8th Standard. It was the year our teacher rearranged the classroom seating, and I found myself sitting in front of Ganeshprasad, Rameshrao, and Ramachandra. The trio  occupied the second bench. Interestingly, I had known Ganeshprasad even before we joined high school. He was my classmate during Standard 5 to Std 7 in Vanita Sadan, Mysore. But we were not in talking terms due to reasons unknown to both of us. Rameshrao and Ramachandra, noticing this, encouraged us to reconnect, and we sealed our renewed friendship with a handshake. From then on, Ganeshprasad and I became inseparable, walking together to and from school every day. His home, conveniently located along my route to school, became a familiar stop. I've penned down a brief account of our evening together, which I'd love to share with you. Please check the link given at the end. Though it's a factual retelling, I hope it brings smiles to your faces as the incident relive the memories with me.

Today has been a day filled with immense joy, as we spent quality time together, sharing laughter and stories over lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Ikea at Nagasandra Bangalore March 6, 2025 with Vijendra and Ajit Nargund

Reunion and a Sweet Surprise!

It was wonderful to reconnect on 6th of March with some of my college classmates after a long time.

The day became more special, my classmates, Vijendra Dhanvantari and Ajith Nargund joined me for a visit to IKEA, where we were treated to complimentary ice cream, courtesy of IKEA!

As Vijendra Dhanvantari and I headed back in the evening, we made a delightful detour to visit another classmate, Srinivas Gupta in Yeshvantpur.

Reliving memories of our carefree student days was a true joy.
