SWABHIMANA

Reality and thoughts

Through years of observation, I have noticed that members of Brahmin families rarely, if ever, solicit financial assistance on their own. This reluctance may stem from a strong sense of 'Swabhimana' (self-respect) or a desire to avoid embarrassment. To truly understand the financial situation of a Brahmin family, one must establish a rapport with them, visit their home, and gently inquire about their circumstances. Only then can we grasp the reality of their situation. This inherent reluctance to seek help may be a significant reason why Brahmins often fail to receive benefits or support from society. While the community deeply values this sense of Swaabhimaana, the question remains: who will offer assistance when it is needed? It is essential for us to create a support system that respects and honours this sense of self-respect, while also providing necessary aid. By doing so, we can ensure the well-being and dignity of our Brahmin community.
