Below is the calender of Deshbhakti Geete, Amruta Vachana, Shloka, Baudhik andfor September 2025. The Deshbhakti Geete is for the and Panchanga whole month while Amruta Vachana, Shloka and Baudhik get changed every week.
The RSS conducts daily Shakha activity typically lasting 60 to 75 minutes, for boys and young individuals. However, older people are also welcome to attend these sessions. Daily Shakha usually commences at around 5:30 pm, allowing time for the daily Prarthana (prayer) to take place at 6:25 pm or later.
To accommodate the needs of working professionals and retired individuals, the RSS introduced Milan activity as an alternative to daily Shakha. Milan activity can be held once, twice, or thrice a week, with flexible timings that suit the convenience of the Swayamsevaks.
Activities during the RSS Shakha: (आचार पद्दति) A typical Shakha or Milan session, lasting 60-75 minutes, is divided into several segments:
- 4 minutes - Shakha Prarambha and Dwajarohana
- 10-15 minutes - Vyayama (Physical Exercises) Typically, it would be physical activities like Exercise (व्यायाम), Suryanamaskar (सूर्य नमस्कार), Yoga (योग), Danda (दंड - लाठी का उपयोग हथियार के तौर), Drill (क़वायद), March (पथ संचलन) and Niyuddha (नियुद्ध - स्वयं निःशस्त्र रहते हुये आक्रमण तथा संरक्षण करने की कला karate-type)
- 20-30 minutes - Physical Games/Outdoor games
- 5 minutes - Patriotic Song (देशभक्ति गीत) Recitation + Learning (one song for one month)
- 1 minute - Amruta Vachana (अमृत वचन) Recitation + Learning (one amruta vachana for one week)
- 5-8 minutes - Baudhik (Intellectual Discourse) or discussion on matters related to Bharat. Baudhik may be a story-telling or covering a biography, or a short discussion on happenings etc, or a discussion on any current event and the Sangh's perspective on it. Baudhik is to inculcate the habit of national interests (राष्ट्रीयता) amongst Swayamsevaks.
- 4 minutes - Shakha Closing Prakriya
- 5 minutes - Prarthana (Prayer) reciting the Sangh's PRARTHANA (प्रार्थना) - “namaste sadA vatsale mAtrubhume (नमस्ते सदा वत्सले मातृभूमे)". One will recite and others shall repeat. Rendition is line by line.
- 2 minutes - Shloka (श्लोक) Recitation and Learning + knowing the meaning of the Shloka (one shloka for one week)
- 1 minute - Panchanga Recitation and Learning of that day's panchanga (पंचांग)
- 5 minutes - Knowing the RSS Schedule of activities and/or requirement of participation/involvement by the Swayamsevaks, informal discussions on patriotism (देशप्रेम), and awareness, discussion, if any, on future activities and plan of action + personal matters, if any, etc.
- Disbursal
Note: The Sangh provides a bulletin every month to all Shakha Mukhyashikshaks, outlining the contents and instructions to follow for each month as to which 'Patriotic Song' / 'Amruta Vachana' / 'Shloka' to be recited and 'Baudhik' to be followed.
The RSS administration nominates a Mukhyashikshak (मुख्य शिक्षक) and a Karyavaha (कार्यवाह) from among the Swayamsevaks who regularly attend Shakha activity or Milan activity.
The Mukhyashikshak typically leads the daily Shakha or Milan activity, with the Karyavaha serving as a supporting associate who monitors activities and provides assistance. During the shakha activity, the Mukhyashikshak has full authority to make decisions. Notably, even senior RSS officials attending the shakha activity must respect the Mukhyashikshak's decisions during the session. This concept of empowering the Mukhyashikshak with full responsibility is indeed remarkable.
The Mukhyashikshak ensures that every Swayamsevak actively participates in the Shakha activity or Milan activity by assigning specific roles, such as leading patriotic songs, reciting Amruta Vachana, or conducting Prarthana. By rotating these responsibilities among Swayamsevaks in each shakha activity, the Mukhyashikshak fosters inclusive participation and helps members become proficient in various activities conducted in the regular Shakha.
