ADHOKSHAJA
The American accent can be challenging to digest.
I was amused by my grandson Adhokshaja's rendition of a song (attached here) in a drama rehearsal play, where he pronounced the word 'ಹರಿ' (hari) as 'Harry' or 'hurry'. This reminded me of an incident shared with me during my time in the USA.
A elderly Hindu gentleman, an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu, would take daily evening walks in the park opposite his home. One evening, he suffered a mild heart attack and fell. His neighbours who were in the park rushed to his aid and heard him whispering two words repeatedly. And they took him home immediately instead of calling 911.
Upon arrival, his wife asked why they hadn't called emergency services. An American neighbour explained that her husband had been saying 'hurry home', so they brought him home. The wife listened to her husband and realised he was actually whispering 'ಹರಿ ಓಂ' (Hari Om). Without a word of reply, she immediately dialed 911.
So one has to be very careful while chanting 'ಹರಿ ಓಂ' in western countries. It may turn too late to recover the damage or he/she might hurriedly reach ಹರಿ.
